FRESH Med presents: Food as Medicine Workshop

Thursday January 5th 2017
@ 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM

What you’ll learn:

  •   Explore the importance of real food and incorporate more plants
  •   Separate food facts from fiction (dispelling myths)
  •   Define whole food plant based diets
  •   Understand the value of organics
  •   Incorporate cooking for your health
  •   Learn why food journals are a crucial part to your success

On a very simple level, your weight depends on the number of calories you consume, store, and burn. But, each of these factors is influenced by a combination of genes and environment. We will explore this interplay to help find the balance between discipline and denial, and learn how best to nourish yourself with food.

We can help you tailor a successful weight control plan that fits your particular needs based on your physiology, lifestyle and culture. We all know food is very personal, and certain foods and diets work for some, and not for others. It’s all about finding the healthiest versions of your favorite foods, not giving them up completely. We’ll break down how to track your meals, how to understand your logs, and where you can make changes to better improve your eating habits and help choose the diet that will work for you for lasting results.

Studies have found that a group environment makes weight loss more attainable and desirable to average participants. Weight loss, like most things in life, is much more fun when shared with others. You learn together. You support each other. Your ideas seem to spark and ignite new ones. A little healthy competition is a lesson in grit for all. And in turn, the way someone else solves a problem challenges you to try something different.
